Nick Jonas
Singer & actor
Nick Jonas is an American singer, songwriter and actor best known as a member of the pop band the Jonas Brothers and for a parallel solo music career. He has also worked extensively as an actor in film and television.
Early life
Jonas was born on September 16, 1992, in Dallas, Texas, and was raised in New Jersey. He began performing as a child, appearing in theatre productions on Broadway before turning to recorded music. His early work in musical theatre helped develop his stage presence and singing, and he began releasing music as a young teenager.
Career
Jonas formed the Jonas Brothers with his older siblings Joe and Kevin in the mid-2000s. The group became a major success, particularly among young audiences, through albums and their association with the Disney Channel, including the "Camp Rock" films and a related television series. The band produced hits and toured widely before going on hiatus around 2013, during which time the members pursued individual projects.
As a solo artist, Jonas released a self-titled album in 2014 that marked a more mature, R&B-influenced pop direction, with singles such as "Jealous" and "Chains" performing strongly. He continued releasing solo material in subsequent years while also collaborating with other artists. In 2019 the Jonas Brothers reunited, releasing the comeback single "Sucker," which topped the charts, followed by new albums and successful tours that revived the group's popularity.
Other work
Alongside his music, Jonas has built an acting career that includes a role in the television series "Kingdom" and supporting parts in the "Jumanji" film series, beginning with "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" (2017). He has appeared as a coach on the singing competition "The Voice" and taken part in various television and stage projects. Jonas married actress and producer Priyanka Chopra in 2018, and the couple have been the subject of considerable media attention. He has also been involved in business ventures and advocacy, including work related to diabetes awareness, having been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as a teenager. Through this advocacy he has supported research and education initiatives and has spoken publicly about managing the condition while maintaining a demanding career. Jonas has additionally lent his name to entrepreneurial projects spanning food, beverages and entertainment, reflecting interests beyond performing.
As a recording artist and live performer, Jonas has continued to release new music both with the Jonas Brothers and as a soloist, and the group's reunion has included extensive arena and stadium touring. His acting credits have grown to include further film and stage appearances, and he has taken part in a Broadway production, returning to the theatrical roots of his early career. Jonas continues to balance the ongoing activity of the Jonas Brothers with solo music and acting commitments, remaining a prominent and versatile figure in mainstream entertainment whose career has spanned child performer, teen idol, solo artist and established multi-platform celebrity.
