Rapper, singer & dancer
Lisa is a Thai rapper, singer and dancer best known as a member of the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK. One of the most followed musicians on social media, she has built a major international profile both with the group and as a solo artist, and she is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the global spread of K-pop.
Lalisa Manobal, born Pranpriya Manobal on March 27, 1997, in Buriram, Thailand, grew up in the country before pursuing a career in music. She trained in dance as a child and competed in dance groups. In 2010 she auditioned for the South Korean entertainment company YG Entertainment and became a trainee, relocating to South Korea, where she spent several years in development before her debut.
Lisa debuted as a member of BLACKPINK in 2016, alongside Jisoo, Jennie and Rosé. The group quickly became one of the most successful acts in K-pop, releasing hit singles such as "Boombayah," "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du," "Kill This Love" and "How You Like That," and achieving international chart success and record-breaking music videos. Within the group, Lisa is known as the main dancer and a rapper, and she has been credited with helping broaden the group's global appeal.
In 2021 Lisa released her solo single album Lalisa, whose title track and the song "Money" performed strongly on international charts; "Money" became a notable viral hit and one of the most-streamed songs by a solo K-pop artist at the time. She has also worked as a brand ambassador for major fashion and luxury houses, becoming a prominent figure at international fashion events, and has been recognized for her influence in both fashion and entertainment. Within Thailand she is regarded as a major cultural export and a source of national pride.
Following BLACKPINK's continued activity and record-setting world tours, Lisa expanded her solo work in the mid-2020s, releasing singles including "Rockstar" and collaborations with other international artists, and her debut solo studio album, Alter Ego, in 2025, which reflected a more global pop direction. She also moved into acting with a role in the HBO series The White Lotus, broadening her presence in Western entertainment. With one of the largest social media followings of any musician in the world, she remains a leading figure in the global popularity of K-pop and a prominent presence in fashion and entertainment, frequently cited as an example of the genre's international reach.
