Julius Randle

Julius Randle is an American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). A forward known for his physical playing style, rebounding and ability to create offence both for himself and his teammates, he has earned multiple All-Star selections during his career and has been recognised as one of the more productive and durable forwards of his generation, posting consistent scoring and rebounding numbers across several teams.

Early life

Randle was born on 29 November 1994 in Dallas, Texas. He was a highly rated high-school basketball prospect in the Dallas area and played college basketball for the University of Kentucky, where he was a standout performer in a single season, helping the team reach the national championship game before entering the NBA Draft. His combination of strength, rebounding and skill at the forward position made him a notable prospect coming out of college.

Career

Randle was selected in the first round of the 2014 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. His rookie campaign was cut short by a serious leg injury sustained early in the season, but he recovered and developed into a productive forward over subsequent seasons in Los Angeles, steadily increasing his scoring and rebounding output. After his time with the Lakers, he spent a season with the New Orleans Pelicans before signing with the New York Knicks, a move that would define the most prominent stretch of his career.

With the Knicks, Randle had some of the most productive years of his career, earning multiple All-Star selections and being named the NBA's Most Improved Player for the 2020–21 season as he helped lead the team back to the playoffs after a lengthy absence. His scoring, rebounding and playmaking made him a focal point of the Knicks' offence during his tenure in New York, and he was named to All-NBA teams during his strongest seasons.

Randle later joined the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he continued to feature as a key contributor in the team's frontcourt alongside the club's young core.
