James Harden

James Harden is an American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). A guard renowned for his scoring and playmaking, he has won the league's Most Valuable Player award and multiple scoring titles, and he is widely regarded as one of the most prolific offensive players of his era.

Early life

James Edward Harden Jr. was born on August 26, 1989, in Los Angeles, California. He grew up in the Los Angeles area and became a standout high school player before attending Arizona State University, where he developed into one of the top college players in the country, earned national recognition for his scoring and was named an All-American before declaring for the professional draft.

Career

Harden was selected third overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2009 NBA draft, joining a young roster that would soon become a championship contender. With the Thunder he became a key reserve on a rising contender and was named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year, helping the team reach the NBA Finals. In 2012 he was traded to the Houston Rockets, where he became a franchise centerpiece and one of the league's premier scorers.

During his years in Houston, Harden led the NBA in scoring multiple times, set numerous individual offensive records and was named the league's Most Valuable Player for the 2017-18 season.
