Kevin Feige

Film producer & studio executive

Born: June 2, 1973, Boston, Massachusetts, United States
Known for: Marvel Studios, Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Avengers, Iron Man, Black Panther

Kevin Feige is an American film producer and studio executive who serves as president of Marvel Studios and chief creative officer of Marvel. He is the principal architect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, an interconnected series of superhero films and television shows that became one of the highest-grossing franchises in cinema history.

Early life

Feige was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in Westfield, New Jersey. A lifelong film enthusiast, he attended the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. While still establishing himself, he secured an entry-level position as an assistant to producer Lauren Shuler Donner, work that brought him into the world of comic-book adaptations during the production of the first X-Men film.

Career

Feige's deep knowledge of Marvel comics made him a valuable associate producer on a series of Marvel-based films produced in partnership with other studios in the early 2000s. He rose quickly within Marvel's film operation and became president of the newly independent Marvel Studios as the company prepared to finance and produce its own movies. The studio's first self-produced release, Iron Man in 2008, launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe and established the template of shared continuity and post-credits teasers that would define the franchise.

Under Feige's leadership, Marvel Studios released an interlocking slate of films built around characters including Captain America, Thor and the Hulk, culminating in the team-up film The Avengers. He oversaw an ambitious multi-phase storytelling plan that wove individual franchises into large-scale crossover events, most notably Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the latter of which became one of the highest-grossing films ever made. He also championed entries such as Black Panther, which received significant critical and cultural recognition.

Recent work

After Marvel Studios came under the broader corporate umbrella of its parent company, Feige's role expanded, and he was named chief creative officer of Marvel, giving him oversight beyond film into television, animation and other media. He has guided the franchise's expansion onto streaming with interconnected series and has continued to develop new characters and storylines across successive phases. He has overseen the introduction of additional teams and characters and the integration of properties acquired through corporate mergers, broadening the range of stories the franchise can tell. Known for closely guarding plot secrets and for an encyclopedic command of the source material, and for cultivating long-term relationships with directors and actors, Feige is widely regarded as one of the most influential producers in the modern film industry, credited with reshaping how studios approach serialized, interconnected storytelling on a large scale.
