Oleksandr Hvozdyk is a Ukrainian professional boxer who won a world title in the light heavyweight division. Known for his sharp technical skills, accurate punching and ring discipline, he built on a strong amateur foundation to become one of Ukraine's leading fighters in the lighter heavy divisions. He boxes under the nickname "The Nail."

Early life

Hvozdyk was born on 11 October 1987 in Kharkiv, in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. He developed through Ukraine's well-regarded amateur boxing system, which has produced numerous Olympic and world champions, and emerged as one of the country's top prospects in the light heavyweight ranks. From an early stage his game was built on disciplined fundamentals, intelligent distance management and accurate counter-punching rather than reckless aggression, traits that would define him throughout his professional career.

Amateur career

As an amateur, Hvozdyk represented Ukraine at the highest level and won a bronze medal in the light heavyweight division at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Career

Hvozdyk turned professional after the 2012 Olympics and steadily worked his way up the light heavyweight division, combining technical precision with steadily improving punching power. In a closely contested bout between two undefeated champions, with the fight competitive across the early and middle rounds, Hvozdyk was eventually stopped, suffering the first loss of his professional career. Recent years

Hvozdyk later returned to the ring and resumed competing at a high level in the light heavyweight division, working his way back into title contention against leading opposition.
