Charlotte Flair
Professional wrestler
Charlotte Flair, born Ashley Elizabeth Fliehr, is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE. The daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, she became one of the most decorated and recognizable performers in women's professional wrestling, holding multiple championships and headlining major events.
Early life
Fliehr was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1986, into a wrestling family headed by her father, the celebrated wrestler Ric Flair. Before entering the wrestling business herself, she was an athlete and worked outside the industry; she attended college and competed in sports, including volleyball. She has spoken about coming to professional wrestling somewhat later than many of her peers, motivated in part by family and personal circumstances.
Career
She signed with WWE in the early 2010s and trained in its developmental system, performing in NXT under the ring name Charlotte. There she won the NXT Women's Championship and helped raise the profile of the brand's women's division during a period of rapid growth in women's wrestling.
Promoted to WWE's main roster, she adopted the ring name Charlotte Flair and became a central figure in the company's women's evolution. She won numerous championships across WWE's brands, including the Raw and SmackDown women's titles and the Divas Championship, and she was part of milestone matches that expanded the prominence of women's wrestling in the company.
Flair participated in several historic firsts for women in WWE, including high-profile main-event and signature matches, and her rivalries with contemporaries such as Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Bayley, and others were promoted heavily. Her in-ring style, athleticism, and confident on-screen persona, often echoing her father's flamboyant character, made her a marquee attraction.
Recent work
Flair has continued to perform as one of WWE's top women's stars, returning from injuries and reclaiming championships across multiple title reigns. She remains a featured performer at major WWE events, including the company's marquee shows, and is regularly positioned in prominent storylines opposite both established stars and rising talent.
Beyond the ring, she has appeared in media tied to WWE and has represented the company in promotional and public-facing roles. She has spoken about the physical toll of professional wrestling and the work required to return from setbacks, as well as the responsibility of carrying forward a famous wrestling surname. Recognized as a multi-time champion and one of the defining figures of the modern women's wrestling era, she has built a career that extends her family's wrestling legacy while establishing her own standing in the industry.
