“I played a bit better today than I did yesterday,” McIlroy commented. “I hit a lot more fairways and gave myself a few more chances.” He's clearly in the hunt, showing resilience and skill as the tournament progresses.

Big Names Struggle

In contrast, some big names struggled to keep their footing at Wentworth. Jon Rahm, a European Ryder Cup star, had a disheartening day, missing the cut with a staggering 11-over total through 36 holes. Similarly, Tommy Fleetwood also found himself below the cut line, underscoring the fierce challenges of the course this week.

Tyrrell Hatton and Matt Fitzpatrick narrowly avoided the same fate, demonstrating grit by finishing the day strong. Both players made crucial chips on the 18th hole, with Hatton sealing an eagle and Fitzpatrick a birdie, ensuring they continued in the tournament.

Injury Woes
