Sarah Jessica Parker Serves Full Carrie Bradshaw Energy at NYC Ballet Gala

If there's one person on earth who can blur the line between fictional fashion icon and real-life style star, it's Sarah Jessica Parker. The actress stepped out Thursday night for the 2026 New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala looking every bit as magical as anything Carrie Bradshaw ever wore on the Upper East Side — and she had her leading man by her side to complete the picture.

A Look Straight Out of a Fairy Tale

According to Page Six, Parker arrived at the gala in a long-sleeved, semi-sheer gown featuring delicate floral embroidery and — because of course — pink ribbons woven throughout. The real showstopper, though, was her hair: a sweeping fishtail braid decorated with even more pink ribbons, giving the whole ensemble a whimsical, storybook quality that felt completely intentional. She finished things off with silver jewelry and a pair of sparkling silver pointe heels that nodded straight to the ballet world hosting the evening.

The hair, specifically, echoed a look Carrie Bradshaw sported in a 2022 episode of And Just Like That — the HBO Max spinoff that ran for three seasons between 2021 and 2025. Parker, 61, played Bradshaw across six seasons of Sex and the City (1998–2005), two feature films (2008 and 2010), and then returned for the spinoff's full run, so it's safe to say she knows exactly how to channel that character's DNA when the moment calls for it.

Matthew Broderick Keeps It Classic

Parker worked the red carpet solo for a stretch before husband Matthew Broderick joined her for some couple shots. The Ferris Bueller's Day Off star, 64, kept it timelessly sharp in a classic black tuxedo with a bow tie, white floral boutonnière, and his signature eyeglasses. The two held hands and smiled for cameras — genuinely warm, genuinely at ease — before heading inside to join fellow guests Stevie Nicks and Andy Cohen.

Cohen, a longtime friend of Parker's, is basically part of the extended Sex and the City universe at this point, so seeing the group gathered together had a pleasingly full-circle feeling.

29 Years and Counting

The ballet outing is just the latest chapter in what is, by Hollywood standards, a genuinely remarkable love story. Parker and Broderick married on May 19, 1997, and marked their 29th anniversary earlier this year. To celebrate, Parker shared a sweet Instagram post featuring framed photos from across the decades, captioning it: "May 19th, 1997–May 19th, 2026. 29 years. And counting. Here's to you my darling. With your favorite band joining me in serenading you. Us. Forever young. Xxx, Your wife Sarah Jessica."

Cohen, never one to miss a comedic beat, chimed in with a joking comment: "And they said it wouldn't last!"

Together, the couple have three children — son James, 23, and 16-year-old twins Tabitha and Marion, born via surrogate. The family occasionally steps out together, with one of their more recent group appearances coming at the release party for composer Marc Shaiman's book Never Mind the Happy.

Still the Queen of the Fashion Moment

What makes Parker's gala look land so well is that it never feels like a costume or a throwback stunt — it feels like a genuine extension of who she is. Whether she's reprising Carrie Bradshaw on screen or walking a real red carpet, her relationship with fashion reads as deeply personal rather than performed. In a TV landscape full of reboots and revivals — and plenty of stars navigating life after long-running roles — Parker seems to have found the sweet spot between character and self with remarkable ease.

If you're a fan of stars making bold style statements off-screen, you might also enjoy keeping tabs on the broader world of TV fashion moments. Meanwhile, if you're curious about what other beloved shows have been up to lately, Matt Smith's Daemon is back as House of the Dragon Season 3 lands — another case of an actor who's become inseparable from an iconic role.
