Sadie Sink's Spider-Man Keeps Smashing Records With $42M Tuesday

Spider-Man: Brand New Day just claimed the biggest Tuesday in domestic box office history, and the records keep piling up.

If you thought Spider-Man: Brand New Day was done breaking records, think again. The Tom Holland-led blockbuster added yet another milestone to its growing list this week, and the numbers are genuinely jaw-dropping for anyone keeping score at home.
A Tuesday for the History Books
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brand New Day pulled in $42 million on a single Tuesday — making it the highest-grossing Tuesday in domestic box office history. That topples a record that Sony itself held with Spider-Man: Far From Home, which earned $39.2 million on July 2, 2019. Not a bad way to beat your own high score.
The Monday before was no slouch either. The film snagged the record for the biggest Monday domestically, and — perhaps most impressively — it became the fastest movie ever to hit $400 million in North America, crossing that threshold in just four days. By Tuesday morning, the domestic total had already climbed to $449 million.
Weekend Warriors: Beating Endgame
Let's rewind to the weekend for a second, because that opening was something else entirely. Brand New Day went head-to-head with Avengers: Endgame for the biggest domestic opening weekend ever — and Spidey won. Sony confirmed a $360 million domestic debut, edging past Endgame's $357.1 million opening. (The global crown still belongs to Endgame with its $1.2 billion worldwide launch, but still — this is massive.)
By the time Tuesday rolled around, Sony also announced the film had crossed the billion-dollar mark globally in just six days, making it the second-fastest feature to ever reach that threshold. The record board is basically full at this point.
The Full Cast Behind the Magic
While Holland and Zendaya are rightly getting a lot of the spotlight, the film boasts a stacked ensemble that's been fun to watch come together. Sadie Sink's role has been one of the most talked-about elements of the movie — and for good reason. She stars alongside Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo in director Destin Daniel Cretton's vision of a Spider-Man navigating a life stripped of the people he loves, only to find himself hunted by an unseen enemy.
If you've been curious about what Sink is actually doing in the film, the speculation started well before release — fans were dissecting everything from her mysterious early clips to her pre-release teases about not playing Aunt May. Now that the film is out, the pieces are clicking into place in some genuinely exciting ways, especially if you've been following the mutant-related threads the movie quietly sets up.
What's Driving the Success?
With superhero fatigue being a very real conversation in Hollywood — last month's Supergirl was among several recent comic book films that underperformed — it's worth asking why Brand New Day is resonating so strongly. Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman put it simply: audiences will show up when something is genuinely great. If a film is just okay, people have plenty of streaming options at home. Getting them into a theater seat requires something special.
Cretton's film currently sits at a 90 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics singling out Holland as delivering some of his best work in the role. The enthusiasm is clearly crossing over into ticket sales.
What Comes Next
Sony is counting on Brand New Day to keep drawing crowds through the rest of summer. Its second weekend will see some competition from new wide releases including One Night Only, Super Troopers 3, and Ice Cream Man — but given the momentum, it would take something extraordinary to slow this one down anytime soon.
