Early life
Kapoor was born in Mumbai into one of Indian cinema's most established acting dynasties. He is the son of actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, and a descendant of the Kapoor family long associated with Hindi film. After completing his schooling in India, he studied filmmaking and method acting in the United States, including time at the School of Visual Arts in New York and at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Before his acting debut he worked as an assistant director on a major film production.
Career
Kapoor made his acting debut in the 2007 film "Saawariya." He soon established himself with well-received performances in films such as "Wake Up Sid," "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani" and "Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year." His role as a troubled musician in "Rockstar" earned him significant acclaim, and he won critical praise for the largely dialogue-free role in "Barfi!"
