Prince George
British royal
Prince George of Wales is a member of the British royal family and the eldest child of William, Prince of Wales, and Catherine, Princess of Wales. As a grandson of King Charles III, he is second in line to the British throne, making him one of the most closely watched children in the line of succession.
Early life
George was born in London in 2013 at St Mary's Hospital, an event that attracted enormous global media attention as the first child of the future king. His arrival was marked by traditional announcements, including a notice placed on an easel outside Buckingham Palace. He was christened in a ceremony with senior members of the royal family present. George has two younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, and the children have been raised primarily in Windsor and at the family's homes.
Public role
Although too young to undertake official royal duties, George has appeared at numerous high-profile public and ceremonial occasions from an early age. He has been seen at events such as Trooping the Colour, royal weddings and major sporting fixtures, and his appearances are widely reported. His expressions and interactions at these events frequently attract public and media commentary. Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the accession of King Charles III, George's status rose as his father became heir to the throne and Prince of Wales, and George became second in line to the throne. He attended the coronation of King Charles III, where he served as a page of honor, taking part in a formal ceremonial role at one of the most significant state occasions of his childhood.
Education and succession
George attends school in England alongside his siblings, with his parents seeking to balance his royal position with a stable and relatively normal upbringing. As the eldest child of the heir apparent, he is expected, under the current order of succession, to one day become king, and his upbringing is widely seen as preparation for that future role. His full name is George Alexander Louis. He attends Lambrook School in Berkshire alongside his sister, Princess Charlotte, and brother, Prince Louis, near the family's home, as his parents have sought a relatively settled school environment. Public knowledge of George centers largely on official photographs released by his parents to mark birthdays and milestones, and on his appearances at family and national events, where he is regarded as a focal point of the monarchy's future.
