Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson is an American actress and entrepreneur best known for her breakthrough role in the music drama Almost Famous and for a string of romantic comedies in the 2000s. The daughter of actress Goldie Hawn, she established herself as a leading screen performer before expanding into business with the activewear brand Fabletics.

Early life

Hudson was born on 19 April 1979 in Los Angeles, California. Her mother is the actress Goldie Hawn and her biological father is the musician and comedian Bill Hudson; she was raised largely by Hawn and her longtime partner, the actor Kurt Russell, whom Hudson has often credited as a father figure. Growing up in a show-business family, she was exposed to filmmaking from an early age and began pursuing acting after finishing high school.

Career

Hudson's career-defining role came in Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous (2000), in which she played Penny Lane, a free-spirited member of a 1970s rock entourage. The performance earned her widespread acclaim and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
