Jimmy Fallon is an American comedian, television host, writer, and producer best known as the host of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC. He rose to prominence as a cast member on Saturday Night Live before becoming one of the most prominent figures in American late-night television, recognized for a comedy-driven, music-infused approach to the talk show format.

Early life

Fallon was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Saugerties, in upstate New York. He developed an early interest in comedy, music, and impressions, performing for family and entering local talent shows as a teenager before moving toward stand-up comedy. He attended The College of Saint Rose in Albany, leaving shortly before completing his degree to pursue comedy full time, though he later returned to finish his studies. He performed stand-up in the New York area and joined an improv and sketch group while seeking opportunities in television.

Career

Fallon joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1998, where he became known for his impressions, musical sketches, and a long run as co-anchor of the Weekend Update segment, frequently alongside Tina Fey.
