Troye Sivan Remembers His Iconic Met Gala Moment with Rihanna

Troye Sivan is back in the spotlight, reflecting on a hilariously unforgettable interaction he had with none other than Rihanna during the 2021 Met Gala. The singer-songwriter, known for his hit Party, recalls the moment so vividly, it’s as if it happened just yesterday.

Reliving the Met Gala Magic

The annual Met Gala is a melting pot of fashion, art, and celebrity, leaving a lasting impression on those who attend. For Troye, who has navigated the Gala’s glamorous waters multiple times, it was the 2021 event that provided a story that fans will never forget. His encounter with Rihanna, a pop culture icon, took place in the most unexpected of locations: the bathroom.

During his recent chat on the Therapuss podcast with Jake Shane, Troye was asked to recount his most starstruck moment, and he didn't hesitate to dive into the details. "I think the immediate one that comes to mind is Rihanna. That is just one that I’ll never get over," he expressed, still marveling at the chance meeting.

The Bathroom Encounter

Imagine the scene: Troye, dressed to the nines in a stunning outfit, was just trying to take care of business when the door swung open to reveal a flurry of people. Among them was Rihanna, the Diamonds singer whose mere presence makes hearts flutter. Troye described that moment, saying, "I hear a woman’s voice and she’s like, 'Someone’s got to take a picture of that.'"

Caught off guard, Troye turned around and could hardly believe his eyes – it was Rihanna staring right back at him. "Oh my God, f***. Cool," he reflected on how starstruck he was at that unexpectedly perfect moment. It’s not every day that a celebrity gets to have a quick chat with a legend.

Of course, things escalated quickly. After regaining his composure, Troye asked someone else at the party to snap a photo. He later shared this now-infamous picture on Instagram with the caption, "@badgalriri told @tomdaley to take this pic of me weeing." It went viral, and honestly, who could blame fans for loving this quirky union of two music powerhouses?
