Nelly Reveals the Surprising Perks of Performing with Taylor Swift

Nelly is pulling back the curtain on his surprise performances with pop icon Taylor Swift, and let’s just say the revelations are as vivid as her song lyrics! In a spirited chat on The Breakfast Club, the rapper reminisced about the 2011 Houston concert during Taylor's Speak Now World Tour, an appearance that came with quite a few perks, including a cool $50,000.

A Memorable Call

Nelly recalled the moment Taylor reached out to him, saying it was completely unexpected. "Out of the blue, she dialed me up, all excited about a dance routine her friends created for 'Hot in Herre.' She proposed a big favor: come down to Houston for her upcoming shows. Initially modest, she mentioned not having a big budget but suggested that they could manage about $50,000 for the appearance. "I said, 'Can you put that in a McDonald’s bag?'"

Swift's Star Power

In true Taylor Swift fashion, she didn’t just rely on cash to sweeten the deal. Nelly shared how she arranged a G5 private jet for him and his kids to fly them straight to the vibrant Houston scene where over 56,000 fans awaited. The exuberance of the concert was palpable — Nelly recalled the stadium buzzing, packed to the rafters.

"We did it, and she was like, 'Yo, three minutes, three minutes!'" he laughed, showcasing her keen sense of timing amid chaos. As he rounded off his performance, Taylor's manager, Robert Allen, famously handed him a McDonald’s bag stuffed with cash, perfectly matching the surreal vibe of the evening. Who knew Swift's concert surprise acts could come complete with this kind of under-the-radar luxury?

A Reunion on Tour

Nelly's partnership with Taylor didn’t end there. He returned to the stage with her for the Red Tour in 2013 and again for the 1989 World Tour in 2015. Each appearance was a slice of musical history, with tracks like “Just a Dream” and “Hey Porsche” bringing fans together in energetic bliss.
