"A statement that accuses a plaintiff of committing a crime is defamatory on its face," Judge Ellis wrote, adding that "a reasonable person would be offended by a false accusation that they had committed a crime."

Kardashian and Jenner filed their lawsuit in October 2025, alleging that Norwood defamed them during a 2025 TMZ interview and a subsequent livestream. In those appearances, he reportedly suggested that the mother and daughter were — or at least should be — subjects of a federal racketeering investigation. The women maintain those statements were false and damaging to their reputations.

With the anti-SLAPP motion denied, the case is set to head toward a trial currently scheduled for March 6, 2028.
